Un-brella by Scott E. Franson

Cover Image

When it snows, the little girl in this book reaches for her swimsuit and beach bag!  That’s because she has an un-brella, which changes her world under the un-brella from snowy and cold to sunny and warm.   She sunbathes next to a snowman, swims next to penguins, and melts a path in the snow on the playground.  As the season changes to summer, she grabs her un-brella and dresses in her winter coat and ice skates, makes a snow angel among the flowers, and even builds a snowman in her bedroom!   This is a wordless book, so the illustrations must carry the story, and they do so extremely well.  Although there are tons of details, the brightly colored illustrations are uncluttered, with repeating patterns of familiar objects, making it easy for young children to tell the story themselves.   This book would be ideal for quiet parent and child laptime, so be sure to check it out!
