Happy Birthday, Dotty! by Tim Warnes

Cover Image

The adorable puppy Dotty is opening her birthday cards, when she decides to hunt for her friends.  The hunt turns into a search for presents as she finds and unwraps a bouncy ball, a kite, and even a tricycle, but no friends.  The she finds literally the biggest present of all, a big box with all her friends inside!  A cute but rather wordy story, this is a good read aloud for the parent who doesn’t mind making up their own story to go along with the pictures, or the preschooler who is ready to picture read.  The brightly cartoonish illustrations show us the friends that Dotty doesn’t see, which makes a fun hunt for the reader as Dotty looks for her presents.    A nice book to share or for a child to “read” on their own.
