Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney

Cover Image

This is a sweet story about bedtime and the concerns that come with that often difficult time.  Baby Llama is all tucked in, but is definitely NOT ready for bed.  Instead, he wants a drink of water, and calls to his mama.  Mama is busy and can’t make it right away, and Baby get more and more anxious, his wimpers moving to moans to boo hoo-ing to outright weeps and wails.  Mama comes running at that, to tell her little llama that she is “always near, even if she’s not right here”.  That message of security is what kids who have trouble sleeping want to hear, and this book delivers that message in a fun way that kids will understand.  The simple rhymes and language make this story fun to read out loud, and kids will love the bold, yet softly rendered illustrations, especially the llama’s facial expressions.  Be sure to check this one out!
